At last Uruguay Wins Copa Cup 2011

At last Uruguay wins copa cup 2011. At 8pm by the British Summer Time the Final match was started. It really is summer out there in that time and the 2011 Copa America final is underway, the kick-off greeted by a primal roar from their supporters. Uruguay, kicking from right to left, gets us going. The first foul comes after just 46 seconds, Zeballos bringing down Maxi Pereira. Uruguay is well on top. Paraguay are all over the place. Within 9 minutes Uruguay had five corners already. Paraguay are a mess. 10 min: At last, Paraguay give themselves some breathing space with an incisive break through the middle. Zeballos finds room on the right side of the area, but Coates defends superbly, although he can't prevent the corner, which is a waste of time anyway.
After 12 min Uruguay have started this match superbly, Paraguay have been a rabble. Given the way they have defended in this tournament though, the manner of this goal comes as a surprise though. The defending was appalling. It all came from a harmless long ball lobbed into the area. Veron won the first header, but didn't get much distance on it. After a bit of scrapping outside the area, eventually Maxi Pereira tried to volley it back into the box. His effort took a huge deflection and suddenly fell to the feet of the unmarked Suarez on the right side of the area. With a clear sight of goal, he superbly sold Veron a dummy, ducking inside and then hitting a low shot towards the right corner. His shot took a big deflection off Veron's knee though, leaving the statuesque Villar helpless as the ball spiraled into the opposite corner, but Uruguay deserve that slice of luck.
Uruguay are closing in on a record 15th Copa America title now. Paraguay were their own worst enemies here, stroking the ball around aimlessly at the back. Facing his own goal and with no idea what was going on behind him, Ortigoza dawdled on the ball just outside the area. The excellent Arevalo Rios was quickly all over him, and once he pinched the ball, there was inevitability to this. Paraguay were caught woefully short as Arevalo shuffled the ball to the left for Forlan, who caught the ball perfectly with his left foot, his shot from 15 yards out whistling past the exposed Villar, who must be wondering why he bothers. What a marvelously clean strike.
At the ending moment of the game How fitting that Diego Forlan should put the seal on Uruguay's 15th Copa America title. And what an exquisite counter-attacking goal as well. After Paraguay's corner was cleared, Uruguay broke, Cavani set clear on the left. He had both Suarez and Forlan to pick out, and decided to pick out the former, clipping the ball to his right. Instead of taking it on, Suarez unselfishly just cushioned a sublime header through to Forlan - rather like Dennis Bergkamp's assist for Patrick Kluivert against Argentina in 1998 - and the striker strolled through and rolled a classy finish past Villar and into the bottom-right corner.
The Final whistle blows, Uruguay are the 2011 Copa America Champions and more to the point. They are now the most successful team in the Tournament’s History.

Uruguay beats Peru and reach Copa America Final

With Argentina and Brazil out, Uruguay were the new favorites to win the 2011 Copa America and clinch their 15th title. They were dominant throughout the semi-final and made sure they did not bottle the chance to go all the way. Uruguay reached the Copa America final with a 2-0 win over Peru to book a showdown with either giant killers Venezuela or Paraguay.
Liverpool star Suarez caused the Peru defence problems early on with his typical intelligent movement. Firstly, he was denied the chance to be through on goal after receiving the ball in space and taking on the defender, however the assistant flagged for a foul. Then shortly after he found some space again after a Forlan free kick, but sliced the volley wide.
It was all Uruguay in the first 15 minutes, with Peru seemingly sitting back waiting for the opportune moment. Maxi Pereira was finding space down the right hand side causing problems, whilst the Peru ‘keeper Fernandez was causing himself problems. He failed to deal with a cross from the right, and Alvaro Pereira was there to pounce, but the Peruvian goalkeeper managed to pull off the point blank save.
Peru’s first chance came after 24 minutes when Juan Vargas was released down the left and whipped in a low cross, but neither Guerrero or Advincula could get the crucial touch to guide it home. Alvaro Pereira slid in to clear, another showing of impressive defending from the Porto wing back. Uruguay had a goal ruled out just before half time when Forlan knocked in a long free kick, which was hindered on by Lugano toward Alvaro Pereira, but the defender had drifted offside and the linesman’s flag went up immediately.
Suarez said that It was a very tough game in the first half and we lacked a little clarity though we kept trying to make chances.
The Uruguayans remained dominant after the interval and were finally reward with a goal shortly after half time. Forlan cut inside and shot from 30 yards, which was saved and spilled by Fernandez only for Suarez to pounce on the rebound. 1-0 and Uruguay were heading for the final.
Peru needed to bounce back soon, but were never given the chance. The high line of the Peru defence were punished by a fantastic pass long ball from Alvaro Pereira, which was controlled nicely by Luis Suarez. The Liverpool striker took it pass the incoming Fernandez and slotted home neatly into the open goal. 2-0 and it was looking like game over for the Peruvians.
Matters got a lot worse for Peru when their captain and most influential player Juan Vargas was sent off for an elbow on Coates. A deliberate elbow deserving of the red card, but it happened just moments after Lugano escaped with booking after a not so different offence.
Peru still managed to step it up a gear with 10 men in search of at least one goal back to make things interesting. They were seeing more of the ball, but were still vulnerable at the back. The fresh legs of Hernandez, who was brought on for Suarez, threatened with a shot after cutting inside but his effort was straight at the ‘keeper.
The 10 men of Peru were almost gifted a goal shortly after when Guerrero’s shot from range was fumbled by Muslera, but the Uruguay goalkeeper was able to recover the ball before it rolled over the line.
Despite any last ditch efforts from Peru, Uruguay closed out the 2-0 victory to reach the final of the 2011 Copa America where they will be looking to win a record 15th title. Peru go home but can certainly be proud with reaching the Semi finals of the tournament, surpassing most people’s expectations.

At last Argentina Snatch Full point of their last Group match. Argentina bagged their first win in the Copa America on Monday with a deserved 3-0 win over Costa Rica to secure their place in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
Argentina had been slated for a demand of fictive midfield play, and whatever were occupation for the launching of metropolis enganche Javier Pastore to come the problem. Sergio Batista went an assorted route, however, descending both Ezequiel Lavezzi and Estaban Cambiasso and actuation Messi backwards to midfield. Sergio Aguero, Gonzalo Higuain and falls di Maria would advance the attack. It was an engrossing gamble, swing Messi in a function to curb the mettlesome – but digit that prefabricated him modify inferior probable to hit a quantity of scoring.
Costa Rica, meanwhile, fielded a rattling antitank 3-5-2/5-3-2 organism fashioned to choke their contestant kinda than get the game. Bizarrely, they did so without Diego Madrigal, for reasons that aren’t every clear. Anyway, their strategy strength hit worked, had Messi not condemned the possibleness to eventually intercommunicate soured the disguise of planetary uncertainty and blind the gathering with a wonderful transfer of shitting and passing. Argentien Play maker Argero make 2 goals for his Teams and 1 goal was came from De Maria.

Second shock for Brazil

                                           Final Result Brazil 2-2 Paraguay

A strike from Fred in the 90th minute rescued a point for Brazil against a Paraguay side that had looked to have secured a famous victory in Copa America Group B. Jadson raised the hopes of the five-time World Cup winners with a goal before half-time, but strikes from Roque Santa Cruz and Nelson Valdez fired Paraguay to the brink of victory over the lacklustre favourites until Fred popped up late on. Paraguay came flying out of the blocks on a gloriously warm winter's afternoon in Cordoba, and Newell's Old Boys winger Marcelo Estigarribia forced a save from Julio Cesar seconds in with a speculative shot from distance. Brazil, meanwhile, began how they finished against Venezuela, attacking with little purpose or urgency and relying on individual forays from Neymar down the left. The Guarani should have taken the lead after just two minutes. Lucas Barrios did excellently to hold up the ball and thread through to Santa Cruz, but his strike partner blazed over when only Cesar stood between him and an opener. Paraguay continued to work hard, pressuring the Selecao all over the pitch and provoking some awful mistakes in defence and midfield.
Jadson was the surprise inclusion minutes before kick-off in place of Robinho, and the Shakhtar playmaker was key in Brazil's first foray on goal. A neat exchange between him and Ganso opened up the defence for Alexandre Pato's benefit, but the AC Milan man chose to try and dribble round Justo Villar and was denied well by the goalkeeper.

After a bright start the game started to lose intensity, and a section of frustrated Brazil fans pleaded for the inclusion of Kaka and Lucas to give life to a side looking chronically short of ideas in the final third. Paraguay, meanwhile, retreated back into their own half, although Estigarribia and the hulking Nestor Ortigoza impressed in the middle - the San Lorenzo man demonstrating his strength with several huge challenges. Just before half-time, however, Brazil found the key to take the initiative. With 38 minutes on the clock, Jadson found himself with space on the edge of the area after some patient, one-touch build-up. The 27-year-old fired home precisely to the left of Villar to record his first ever international strike, sending a rejuvenated Selecao into the break 1-0 to the good. It would be Jadson's last contribution in the match as he was sacrificed by Mano Menezes at half-time in favour of Elano. They struggled to rediscover their rhythm after the break, however, and scrappy fouls started to characterise a messy start to the second period. Paraguay were on top, and it was no surprise when they levelled. Huge spaces could be found in the middle of the field, and the Guarani took full advantage as they streaked down the left. The excellent Estigarribia reached the byline and raked the ball across goal, and Santa Cruz was there to atone for his earlier miss by calmly slotting past Cesar.

A spell of dominance for Gerardo Martino's team followed, but with 20 minutes to go Neymar spurned a glorious opportunity to take the lead. The Santos man found himself all alone against Villar but, like Pato before him, he tried to be too clever. The repercussions were almost instant.  Paraguay broke immediately on the counter, and with Dani Alves nowhere to be seen the ball once more found it's way to Nelson Valdez in the middle. The Hercules man was denied by Cesar, but the ball rebounded kindly and at the second time of asking he managed to turn it in with his head. The Estadio Mario Kempes exploded with shouts from the Paraguayan fans, who comfortably outnumbered the Brazil contingent in the terraces.  Menezes threw on young Lucas Moura in an effort to kick-start his lacklustre team, but there was no way through a resilient rival defence. With just minutes left on the clock, however, substitute Fred picked up Ganso's ball and drove in from the edge of the box, breaking the hearts of the Paraguay support and saving a point for Brazil.
Brazil remains level with the Paraguayans on two points in Group B, and Venezuela or Ecuador could go top if either manages to record a win in Salta.

Peru snatch full point from Mexico.

Mexico's young squad registered another tame performance in Mendoza as Peru missed a string of chances only to be rescued by Hamburg's Paolo Guerrero late on Peru moved joint-top of Group C in the 2011 Copa America after a late 1-0 victory over Mexico, a result which left the recently crowned Gold Cup champions on the verge of elimination.Mexico’s inexperienced side found themselves at the receiving end of a Peruvian blitz in the opening minutes as Rinaldo Cruzado, Carlos Lobaton and Paolo Guerrero all registered early efforts as Sergio Markarian's men looked to signal their intent.A barrage of Juan Manuel Vargas corners continued to test Mexico’s haggard-looking defence, but the back of the net was elusive, even to Peru, who enjoyed as good a spell as anyone in this edition of the trophy. As the contest trudged towards the half hour mark, it threatened to sink into anonymity. Vargas, Cruzado and Lobaton were unable to combine as they had done in the early stages, and Mexico’s defence began to settle into the tie, standing in the way of any corners or through ball la Rojiblanca threw at them.It was perhaps unsurprising that the first half ended with a stalemate once more – for all of Mexico’s determination, they rarely found themselves in Peruvian territory, save a short range effort from Aquino which was well blocked from Santiago Acasiete, while Peru’s only sight of goal after their opening salvo came from speculative efforts from distance which did nothing to trouble Luis Michel. The second half began with the miss of the match. Yoshimar Yotun, on as a half time substitute, swung in a cross and Guerrero, despite standing unmarked among the Mexican defensive ranks, headed the ball wide when he should have netted his 12th international goal.If the Hamburg striker’s effort was sub-par, Vargas was purely unlucky minutes later. Peru’s captain took a great touch inside his man before sending in a powerful shot which came back off the post.Peru sensed that three points could be on the cards. They cut out the optimistic shots, and Michel was soon forced into making saves as he found his goal under pressure. Dos Santos, meanwhile, ever Mexico’s creative hub in the first period, was forced to come deep to see the ball as he grew visibly frustrated.Vargas saw an exquisite free kick strike the same post as his angled drive had previously done, before Michel made a fantastic save to deny Guerrero a headed goal.Peru's breakthrough finally came with eight minutes to spare. Mexico failed to clear their lines from a corner, and after some pinball in the area, Guerrero found himself free at the far post to give his side a valuable lead. Mexico appealed for offside, but to no avail. It was merely a case of seeing the game out from that point onwards. Mexico’s youngsters were tired and out of ideas, while Peru were happy to pass the ball around without breaking their necks to double their lead. The win allowed Peru to move level on points with Chile at the top of Group C, while defeat leaves Mexico rooted to the bottom of the group without a point after two group matches. However, they are still mathematically in the race to finish as the two best third-place finishers, but will need to beat Uruguay in their final game.

Copa America 2011-Peru vs Mexico Preview

Peru

Mexico

                 VS

There is everything to play for in Mendoza for both Peru and Mexico. Both sides will have to face arguably superior sides in Uruguay and Chile in the final round of games, so this match will be a best opportunity for each side to gain points.
With Mexico effectively fielding an Olympic side for this Copa America, they perhaps come into this game as slight underdogs despite looking impressive in their opening loss to Chile. Giovanni dos Santos will once again be the main man for Mexico but he will have a tough time against Peru's excellent defense.
An interesting point will be what formation Luis Fernando Tena will use against Peru. Against Chile, Mexico went with a 5-3-2 formation, which was used to counter the attacking flare of the young and talented Chilean team. Perhaps though Mexico will switch to 4 at the back due to Peru being without most of their star attackers for this tournament, Jefferson Farfan and Claudio Pizarro miss the Copa America due to injury. A similar fate almost meant that Peru's goal scorer against Uruguay, Paolo Guerrero, could have also missed the competition but he managed to recover in time and now becomes Peru's main man up front.

Peru will be hoping that Juan Manuel Vargas will be fit enough to start this game, after coming on off of the bench against Uruguay in the last game. Should Vargas play he will most likely be facing the right back, Paul Aguilar, who is one of the few Mexican players to have also been a part of the 2010 World Cup squad. So, what will be happen to night time will say that?
Peru Possible XI:  Fernandez; Rodriguez, Acasiete, Revoredo, Vilchez; Yotun, Guevara, Balbin, Ballon, Advincula; Guerrero
Mexico Possible XI: Michel; Aguilar, Araujo, Reynoso, Mier; Chavez, Aquino; Reyes Enríquez, Giovani; Lugo.

Argentina 0-0 Colombia - Argentine fan are upset

Argentina again failed to impress as they were held to a second consecutive draw in the Copa America against Colombia.Host nation Argentina's Copa America campaign is yet to spark after a 0-0 draw against Colombia in the Group A clash. The draw left Argentina second in the table, with just two points behind leaders Colombia who have four. Although Sergio Batista's men did the majority of work, Colombia had the better chances with Dayro Moreno and Gustavo Ramos guilty of missing easy chances. Moreno’s cross found Ramos in front of goal, but the strikers shacked his shot over from just yards out. Moreno's miss was more shocking. It came after a defensive mix-up when Gabriel Milito's woeful back pass ended up at Ramos' feet. He managed to round the keeper although Nicolas Burdisso offset him with a tackle. The ball fell to Moreno who was just eight yards out, with an open goal glaring in front of him. His side foot, however, went into the side-netting. Argentina did have their chances as Ezequiel Lavezzi saw Luis Martinez deny his effort after Lionel Messi's had put him through. After the break, Carlos Tevez dragged his shot wide, while Pablo Armero also came close. However, the game ended goalless in a result which leaves Colombia with a two point lead at the top of the table. Argentina's campaign is yet to spark and if they'll hope to get back on tract in their next match against Costa Rica.
